National Health Center Week is an annual celebration held every August to raise awareness about the accomplishments and vital role of Community Health Centers, like Valley Community Healthcare (VCH). It is an opportunity to celebrate the patients, staff, board members, and supporters whose dedication makes this work possible.
This year, Valley Community Healthcare celebrated National Health Center Week with two community events at our San Fernando Valley locations.
Valley Cares: Resource Fair
Our first event took place on August 4 at our North Hollywood location with our Valley Cares: Resource Fair. The event connected patients and community members with valuable health information, local community resources, family-friendly activities, and free fresh produce.
We were also honored to host a breakfast with elected officials and welcome U.S. Congresswoman Luz Rivas and Assemblymember Nick Shultz to our clinic, along with representatives from the Office of U.S. Senator Adam Schiff, the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, the Office of Assemblymember Celeste Rodriguez, and State Senator Henry Stern.
During the breakfast, these leaders had the opportunity to hear directly from Valley Community Healthcare patients about the healthcare challenges affecting our community and the important community health centers play in providing accessible care to those how need it the most.
Valley Kids: Back-to-School
On August 8, we brought the celebration at our North Hills location with our Valley Kids: Back-to-School event. The event helped local families prepare for the upcoming school year by offering school and sports physicals, immunizations, dental screenings, and connections to community resources.
To make the day even more special, children received free backpacks and school supplies, while Kona Ice provided complimentary shaved ice to help everyone stay cool and enjoy the festivities.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us, supported our events, and helped make National Health Center Week a meaningful celebration of our patients and the community we serve.
