In the 1980s we were chosen to be the Free and Anonymous HIV Testing site for the San Fernando Valley and became a major HIV/AIDS resource and service center, providing testing, counseling, and treatment referrals to affected patients. The unique Teen Pregnancy Prevention Project we launched in the 1990s provided adolescent Peer Providers with their first job, became the model for similar teen programs, and brought the Valley Teen Clinic national recognition as a leader in adolescent services.
Valley Community Healthcare is designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) by the Department of Health and Human Services and is supported by grants from Los Angeles County, the State of California, and the Federal Government, as well as private, public, and corporate foundations. Our primary care doctors and health specialists not only return patients to health from injury or illness, but also help them stay well through preventive care and healthy lifestyle counseling.
